Hillary Clinton has called for an end to the Hyde Amendment, longstanding federal policy prohibiting taxpayer dollars from paying for abortion on demand. This is the most dramatic pro-abortion position espoused by a leading political figure to date. Recent polling from CNN and Marist/Knights of Columbus found that a majority of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion.
Strong Supporter of Planned Parenthood, America’s Largest Abortion Business
Clinton has a long relationship with Planned Parenthood, considering the organization an ally and supporter throughout her and her husband’s political careers. In 2009, then-Secretary of State Clinton accepted the Margaret Sanger Award at the annual Planned Parenthood Awards Gala. The Margaret Sanger Award is named for Planned Parenthood’s founder, a noted eugenicist.
Speaking at a campaign rally hosted by Planned Parenthood in January 2016, Hillary Clinton said she would “always defend” and support funding for the organization, which is America’s largest abortion business.
Clinton has spoken to Planned Parenthood on a number of occasions. In 2014, Clinton was honored with the organization’s Margaret Sanger award. In 2009, Clinton spoke at Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s annual gala. Clinton also spoke to the group in Washington, D.C. in 2007. Over the years, the Clintons have received almost $67,000 in campaign contributions from Planned Parenthood and its employees.
Supports Abortion Up until the Moment of Birth
Hillary Clinton says she supports abortion restrictions “in the very end of the third trimester, but they have to take into account the life and health of the mother.” (9/28/15). Legal experts on both sides agree that a health exception renders any abortion limit virtually meaningless, and Clinton knows this. Clinton also said that “the unborn person does not have constitutional rights,” (4/3/16) and admitted that under Roe, a baby does not have rights even hours before birth (4/5/16).
