Emergency contraception: another PP way of supporting taxpayer-funded abortion

We’ve all heard about the common abortion advocate’s plea:

“The number of abortions would decrease in the U.S. if only contraception and birth control were promoted to a higher degree.”

 Well, this is not true.

The January issue of the journal Contraception contains results of a 10-year study “to acquire information about the use of contraceptive methods in order to reduce the number of elective abortions. The elective abortion rate increased from 5.52 to 11.49 per 1000 women. In the ten year period that contraception use increased by around 60%, the abortion rate doubled.

And the most dangerous ones are emergency contraception pills. These are commonly mistaken as  “birth control,” but their abortive consequences are well-known. They are used to prevent ovulation from occurring, but beside the fact that breakthrough ovulations commonly occur, they have long-term health consequences for women.

The most common emergency contraceptive pills, are ellaOne and Plan B:

  •  “ella” or “ellaOne”(as it is known in the U.K.) was introduced and approved by the FDA just last year, as the revolutionary and more effective contraceptive pill. With contraception that acts during the first 24 hours, there has always been a debate because the sperm might have not yet fertilized the egg, but the ellaOne pill works for five days. As it is effective for so long, there is more than enough time for a pregnancy to occur. ellaOne is an abortion pill, plain and simple. “ella” operates by employing the same chemical methods as RU-486, a chemical abortifacient, and therefore has side effects associated with it. In extreme cases, it can even lead to serious health problems or death, and a woman’s lifelong fertility may be affected. Some women don’t regard these long-term dangers with emergency contraception.
  • Plan B, ellaOne’s sister morning after pil, can be taken to “prevent pregnancy” for up to 3 days after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure. This emergency contraceptive pill is available to women age 16 or older without a prescription and in several generic versions.

60 million worldwide use contraceptive pills as a method of pregnancy prevention, and 20% of this figure are U.S. women, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Around 10% of U.S. women use emergency contraception, abortive agents. More overly, 54% of abortions occur when the mother was using contraception when she was pregnant

Planned Parenthood promotes the EC pills Plan B One-Step, ella, and Next Choice. They defy the scientific evidence and instead claim that “emergency contraception will not harm a fetus.”

In their Q&A regarding pregnancy, Planned Parenthood claims that “(a person) starts when a baby tales its first breath.” In the same answer, they state that: “In fact, both the egg and the sperm are living things before they meet and join.”  So whatever “life” comes after fertilization suddenly stops conveniently during pregnancy and becomes a person at birth? What is in between?

In their latest report, 35% of Planned Parenthood’s services were contraception and 1,436,808 were emergency contraception kits.

EC pills are just another way Planned Parenthood accounts for 1 in every 4 abortions performed in the U.S.; EC pills are also another way Planned Parenthood uses taxpayer funds for abortions.

Its time to DEFUND Planned Parenthood!
