Americans Rally to Protect Religious Freedom

Pro-life Americans across the nation will be uniting again this Friday to protest the implementation of President Obama’s HHS Mandate, which will require private health insurance plans to cover abortion-causing drugs.

Rallies will be happening in cities across the country at noon on Friday, but it won’t stop there! The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is preparing and urging pro-life Americans to practice civil disobedience in order to fight the unjust law and to stand up for their religious freedom.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops bulletin states: “Some unjust laws impose such injustices on individuals and organizations that disobeying the laws may be justified. Every effort must be made to repeal them. When fundamental human goods, such as the right of conscience, are at stake, we may need to witness to the truth by resisting the law and incurring its penalties.”

Already 43 Catholic institutions and dioceses from across the country have filed religious liberty lawsuits to protest the government’s mandate. In one such instance, President Jim Towey of Ave Maria University in Florida has already stated that his university will refuse to obey a law that violates the religious beliefs upon which it was founded. He has declared that once the mandate is implemented, Ave Maria, like other organizations that refuse to provide abortion-inducing drugs, will endure thousands of dollars in fines during the first year of alone.

Join the pro-life Americans and people of faith and conscience who will be standing up for Life, conscience and religious freedom this Friday! To find the rally nearest to you, visit http://standupforreligiousfreedom.com/

In Washington, D.C., the rally will take place in Upper Senate Park – located at 200 New Jersey Ave., NW from 12:00pm – 1:30pm. Over a dozen speakers, including Live Action’s Lila Rose, Students for Life of America’s Kristan Hawkins and U.S. Congressman Andy Harris (R-MD) will attend.

Thank you for standing up for our First Amendment rights!
