A new poll commissioned by CNN and done by Opinion Research Corporation was released this morning. Results show that six 10 Americans (61%) favor a ban on using federal funds for abortion.
CNN also reports that the poll “also indicates that the public might also favor legislation that would prevent many women from getting their health insurance plan to cover the cost of an abortion, even if no federal funds are involved.”
This isn’t surprising to those of us who have been paying attention for the past year. Abortion is not only a loosing issue in health care reform, the majority of American’s agree that this is a pro-life nation—let’s hope Senator Harry Reid remembered as much while he drew up the senate version of the health care bill this week. If the Senate version does not contain language similar to the pro-life Stupak amendment, it must be opposed. The bill is expected to be released tomorrow.
