Pro-life Fischer Wins Senate Primary

Washington, D.C. –  The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) released the following statement after its endorsed candidate Sen. Deb Fischer won her primary for U.S. Senate in Nebraska:

“We congratulate Senator Fischer on her primary win,” said SBA List Vice President of Government Affairs Marilyn Musgrave. “Deb Fischer has an unwavering record of pro-life leadership. She has fought tirelessly to get Nebraska taxpayers out of the abortion business and to stop late-term abortions after five months, more than halfway through pregnancy. Jayne Raybould is an extremist backed by America’s largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood. Sen. Fischer will continue to champion Nebraska’s values and stand up to the abortion lobby. We encourage every pro-life voter to re-elect her this November.”

Fischer was first elected to the Senate in 2012. Previously she represented the 43rd district in the Nebraska state legislature. She is a co-sponsor of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, legislation that would stop late-term abortions after five months of pregnancy, when science shows unborn children can feel pain. Fischer has consistently opposed taxpayer funding of abortion and worked to redirect tax dollars away from Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business, to comprehensive health care alternatives.

Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, visiting more than 1.1 million homes in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. SBA List is a network of more than 630,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
