Washington, D.C. – Former Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, vice president of government affairs for the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List), will address local pro-life advocates at The FAMiLY LEADER’s 2019 Family Leadership Summit today in Des Moines, Iowa, rallying them to stand up to abortion extremism and support the re-election of U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA). SBA List is a sponsor of the Summit.
An excerpt of Musgrave’s remarks follows:
“After nearly half a century under the yoke of Roe v. Wade, we have reached a tipping point in the fight to restore life for our most vulnerable little sisters and brothers…We must continue the fight, continue electing pro-life leaders at every level of government who will confirm pro-life judges, pass pro-life legislation, and support President Trump’s pro-life policies. Victory for the pro-life movement is closer than ever before.
“I have the privilege today of introducing a woman of strength and integrity who we greatly admire, pro-life champion Senator Joni Ernst…Joni arrived at the Senate with a strong record. As a state senator, she co-sponsored legislation to stop taxpayer funding of abortion and was ahead of her time in working to protect women from dangerous ‘telemed’ abortions – a growing threat to unborn children and their mothers. She coming to Washington, she has spearheaded efforts to stop taxpayer funding of abortion giant Planned Parenthood after the exposure of their role in the harvest and sale of baby body parts. She also took a lead role in gathering majority support in the Senate for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act to put an end to late-term abortions more than halfway through pregnancy.
“During the bitter fight to confirm Justice Kavanaugh and its aftermath, even when enduring vicious personal attacks, Joni has been unwavering in both compassion and principle…Re-electing Senator Joni Ernst in 2020 is a top priority for SBA List.”
Joni Ernst was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2014 after serving in the Iowa Senate. She is the first woman to represent Iowa in Congress and the first female combat veteran elected to the Senate. She has sponsored many pro-life bills including legislation to protect unborn children from late-term abortions after five months of pregnancy and to stop taxpayer funding of the abortion industry. She received SBA List’s Distinguished Leader Award in 2015 and was the keynote speaker at SBA List’s annual Campaign for Life Gala in 2016.
SBA List is a network of more than 787,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
