Incumbent Tim Walberg has been an unwavering champion for unborn children & their mothers in Congress

Washington, D.C. – Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced its endorsement of Rep. Tim Walberg, who is running for re-election in Michigan’s seventh Congressional district.

“Tim Walberg has been an unwavering champion for unborn children and their mothers in Congress,” said SBA List Vice President and former U.S. Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave. “He has worked to protect the vulnerable at every turn and to keep our tax dollars out of the hands of the abortion industry. His pro-life leadership landed him on the list of EMILY’s List’s top incumbent targets to defeat for the 2016 election. We are proud to endorse Rep. Walberg in his re-election bid. He is the pro-life champion best suited to take on Gretchen Driskell, backed by EMILY’s List, in the general election. As a State Representative, Driskell voted against even the most modest pro-life reforms including legislation to protect women from being coerced into abortion.”

Congressman Walberg welcomed the endorsement, saying: “I am proud to accept the endorsement of Susan B. Anthony List. Their organization works incredibly hard to elect leaders who will fight for lifesaving legislation and I have been honored to work with them over the years.  I believe wholeheartedly in the sanctity of life and will continue to remind Congress of its obligation to protect all Americans, including those yet unborn.”

Rep. Walberg was first elected to Congress in 2006. He has voted to redirect funding away from America’s largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood, to community health centers that do not perform abortion on-demand, to limit abortion more than halfway through pregnancy because of the unborn child’s ability to feel pain, and to protect babies born alive after a failed abortion. He received the 2008 Life Award from Michigan Right to Life.

Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
