Musgrave: “Mary will be a champion for unborn children”
Washington, D.C. – Today the national pro-life organization Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced its endorsement of Mary Thomas, Republican for Florida’s Second Congressional District.
Former Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, Vice President of Government Affairs for the Susan B. Anthony List, announced the endorsement and introduced Mary Thomas at two press conferences held in Tallahassee and Panama City on Friday. Congresswoman Musgrave released the following endorsement statement:
“Protecting the most vulnerable and building up women as leaders are not only compatible choices, but essential to the well-being of our society. Susan B. Anthony List is proud to endorse a principled and articulate woman leader like Mary Thomas,” said Rep. Musgrave. “If elected, she will be a champion for unborn children, as well as for pro-life taxpayers. We look forward to having her strong leadership in Washington where she will be an excellent addition to the Pro-life Women’s Caucus.”
Mary Thomas released the following statement in response to the endorsement:
“As a Christian and a mother, I am honored to receive the endorsement of Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave and the Susan B. Anthony. I am running for Congress to save the American dream for my young son Luke and the next generation. As the mom of a two year old son and the daughter of immigrants, I know how precious the American dream truly is. Today that dream is under attack and for the millions of babies who are aborted every year in this country, the American dream has already died. But thanks to the work of the Susan B. Anthony List and an army of dedicated volunteers across America, the pro-life movement is stronger than ever.
“In the House of Representatives, I pledge to stand up for life and lead the charge to protect the lives of the unborn. I’m grateful to have the help of Congresswoman Musgrave, the Susan B. Anthony List and dozens of volunteers in our quest to make history and elect a fresh, new, true conservative and pro-life voice on August 30.”
The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion.
