Statement on President Obama's Silence on DC Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act

As the debate in the House begins on the D.C. Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser demands that President Obama state his position on the legislation:

“The White House cannot remain silent on this.  The American people deserve to know whether the President endorses the status quo in the District of Columbia, which is abortion on demand, for any reason, regardless of the pain experienced by the unborn at this advanced stage of pregnancy, up to the moment of birth. We know the President supports taxpayer funding of abortion, opposes banning gender selective abortion, and even opposed a bill in the Illinois legislature to protect infants who survived abortion. We would like to know if the President who began his term in office speaking about ‘common ground’ on the abortion issue has any limits to his abortion extremism.”

At a White House press briefing this afternoon, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said, “I haven’t spoken to the president about this particular piece of legislation.”
