58 Percent of West Virginians, Including Strong Majorities of Women and Independents, Want Judge Kavanaugh Confirmed
Washington, D.C. – The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) released the following statement urging Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) to vote to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court:
“Senator Manchin’s constituents have spoken: by an overwhelming margin, they want Judge Kavanaugh confirmed,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of Susan B. Anthony List. “West Virginians showed their trust in President Trump to nominate Supreme Court justices when they elected him by a 42-point margin. Judge Kavanaugh is an exceptionally qualified, fair and independent jurist in the mold of Justice Neil Gorsuch, for whom Senator Manchin voted last year. This should be an easy decision, but Manchin has a history of betrayal on key pro-life votes and is under pressure to side with Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein and the radical abortion lobby to block Judge Kavanaugh.
“SBA List’s field team will be active in West Virginia through Election Day reaching out to pro-life voters who don’t always get to the polls to educate them about Manchin’s record. We urge Senator Manchin to do the right thing and confirm Judge Kavanaugh. He will be held accountable at the ballot box.”
New polling from Public Opinion Strategies and commissioned by Judicial Crisis Network shows 58 percent of West Virginia voters want Judge Brett Kavanaugh confirmed, including 59 percent of Independents and 52 percent of women.
SBA List announced today its field team has visited the homes of two million voters across the battleground states of West Virginia, Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Missouri, North Dakota, and Montana ahead of Election Day 2018 to educate them on their senator’s record and the importance of voting pro-life.
Previously the SBA List team held press conferences outside of Sen. Manchin’s offices in Charleston and Fairmont, as well as in Wheeling, Parkersburg, and Beckley urging Manchin to respect the will of West Virginia voters by supporting President Trump’s nominee.
Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, visiting more than 1.1 million homes in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. SBA List is a network of more than 690,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
