Rep. Mia Love & Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to Receive Pro-life Awards
Washington, D.C. – This morning the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List announced the details and speakers for its ninth annual Campaign for Life Gala. The event will take place this Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), who was the lead sponsor of legislation to defund Planned Parenthood in the wake of the undercover video scandal last year and the 2015 recipient of SBA List’s Distinguished Leader Award, will keynote the event.
U.S. Congresswoman Mia Love and Texas Governor Greg Abbott will also receive awards for their pro-life leadership. Syndicated columnist and author Mona Charen will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies.
“When we started Susan B. Anthony List in 1992, there wasn’t a single pro-life woman in the U.S. Senate. Two decades later, the strongest pro-life woman leader in the U.S. Senate, whom we helped elect in 2014, will keynote our annual Gala,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Joni Ernst arrived at the Senate with a strong record of pro-life leadership. She has not hesitated to lead since coming to Washington. When the Center for Medical Progress revealed Planned Parenthood’s involvement in the harvesting and trafficking of baby organs last year, Sen. Ernst immediately responded with legislation to defund the abortion giant. She also took a lead role in gathering majority support in the Senate for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, our top legislative priority, which would stop abortions after five months.
“Another freshman, Representative Mia Love, the first black Republican woman elected to Congress, was quick to take the lead in defending unborn children and mothers,” continued Dannenfelser. “Rep. Love’s moving call to put an end to Planned Parenthood’s barbarity resounded in hearts and minds across the country through her media interviews and floor speeches. We are pleased to recognize the passion and dedication these women advance for the pro-life cause.”

Previous Campaign for Life Gala keynote speakers include Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR), Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Gov. Mike Pence (R-IN), Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-MN), Sen. Fred Thompson (R-TN), and Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA).
The Susan B.
