Casey’s Flip Exposes Pro-abortion Extremism of Biden-Schumer Democratic Party
Washington, D.C. – The national pro-life-group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) blasted U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) and Senate Democrats for promoting the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act.” Backed by the Biden administration, this legislation would effectively codify a right to abortion on demand until birth into federal law and nullify pro-life laws in states across the country, including late-term abortion limits when unborn children can feel pain, waiting periods, informed consent laws, antidiscrimination laws, and more.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) filed cloture on the bill on Thursday, setting the stage for a vote.
“Senator Casey’s flip to supporting abortion on demand is a disgrace to the legacy of his hero father. Like that of Joe Biden, it exposes how the Democratic Party has caved to pro-abortion extremism,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Casey’s overall voting record is not pro-life, yet as late as 2020 he voted for legislation to stop late-term abortions when unborn babies can feel pain. Now with millions of lives at stake in the Dobbs case, he stands with Chuck Schumer and the abortion lobby to advance the ‘Abortion Until Birth Act’ and enshrine an unlimited abortion ‘right’ in federal law – a radical agenda Americans across the political spectrum reject. We urge every one of our Senate allies to stand firm against this assault on innocent life and on democracy, and we will work tirelessly to hold members of Congress accountable.”
SBA List previously announced it would score against the House bill and has issued a memo detailing its extreme provisions. In addition, the group’s research arm Charlotte Lozier Institute has provided expert legal analysis of the legislation.
Public opinion polls consistently show a strong majority of Americans reject pro-abortion extremism.
