So-called ‘Fact Check’ of Live Action conducted by pro-abortion advocates; Platform Threatens to Reduce Reach of Pro-Life Group Live Action

Washington, D.C.  – The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) today slammed Facebook for threatening to limit the reach of Live Action and its Founder, Lila Rose on the platform, after claiming two videos contained false information.

Last week, two Live Action videos stating that “abortion is not medically necessary” were labeled as false by Facebook fact-checker Science Feedback. The educational content in the videos is affirmed by OBGYNS associated with American Academy of Pro-life Obstetricians & Gynecologists (AAPLOG) and many in the medical community that strive to care for both patients. The fact checkers are two known abortion advocates.  Facebook also announced they would reduce the page reach of Live Action President Lila Rose. Live Action and Lila Rose have more than three million followers on Facebook.

“What we’ve seen recently from Facebook is one step forward, two steps back,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Just weeks ago, Facebook announced at least one policy change to ease the censorship of pro-life messages. Now Facebook is once again censoring the pro-life message, this time under the guise of ‘fact checking’ performed by known abortion advocates.

“Lila Rose and her team at Live Action have an extremely strong online presence that reaches millions of Americans. Live Action clearly threatens the agenda of the abortion industry and their friends in Silicon Valley. By citing known pro-abortion activists in their decision to block pro-life content, Facebook has taken sides in this national debate and made clear their bias against Live Action and the pro-life movement. Facebook should rectify this situation and review their fact checking process immediately.”

Dr. Donna Harrison, Executive Director of the American Association of Pro-Life OBGYNS (AAPLOG) & Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI) Associate Scholar previously issued a statement saying:

“These fact-checkers need to be fact-checked. They are in error to claim that elective abortion is medically necessary to save the life of the mother. They did not cite even one example where an abortion, the intentional killing of a living child in utero, would be superior to delivering that child. The two Live Action videos state that there will be cases when a child is delivered too early to survive outside of the womb in order to save the mother’s life. There is a very big difference between pre-viable separations and elective abortion.”

SBA List is a network of more than 787,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
