North Dakota Voters Overwhelmingly Oppose Taxpayer Funding of Planned Parenthood, America’s #1 Abortion Business
Washington, D.C. – Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced a week-long, five-figure radio ad buy across the state of North Dakota calling on Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D) to support efforts to redirect taxpayer funding away from America’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, and to comprehensive health care providers.
A poll released last month found 70 percent of North Dakota voters oppose giving taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood instead of comprehensive health care providers. Seventy-seven (77) percent also said they would be less likely to support Senator Heitkamp if they learned she voted to give taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood instead of comprehensive health care providers.
“We urge Senator Heitkamp, who has said in the past she opposes taxpayer funding of abortion, to support efforts to fund real women’s health programs, not Planned Parenthood,” said SBA List’s President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “North Dakota voters agree: taxpayer dollars would be better spent on community and rural health centers that provide comprehensive, whole-woman care, not abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion provider and has been under investigation for its role in the harvest and sale of baby body parts. Sen. Heitkamp ought to side with her constituents, not the brutal abortion lobby.”
The ad, in part, says:
“Planned Parenthood performed one million abortions in the last three years.
Planned Parenthood executives were caught on tape bragging about selling baby body parts.
And while under federal investigation, Planned Parenthood spent thirty million dollars to elect Hillary Clinton and advance abortion on demand policies in Congress.
Planned Parenthood does not deserve a dime of taxpayer money.
But will Senator Heidi Heitkamp stand with us or them?
Will Senator Heitkamp vote to redirect Planned Parenthood’s funding to community health centers that provide better health care to women?
Or will Heitkamp side with the Washington liberals and continue giving hundreds of millions to the largest abortion business in America…Tell Heitkamp: redirect our taxpayer dollars away from Planned Parenthood and to real women’s health care.”
President Donald Trump has made four specific commitments to the pro-life movement, including reallocating Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding to comprehensive, whole-woman health care centers, which outnumber Planned Parenthood facilities 20 to 1 nationwide. These whole woman health care centers provide the same preventative services Planned Parenthood claims to offer and much more, but do not do abortions.
