The Senate Must Act on Health Care Reform that Rolls Back Obamacare’s Abortion Expansion and Redirects Tax Dollars Away from Planned Parenthood
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser will speak at a press conference at the White House today at 1:00 p.m. to urge the Senate to vote on the motion to proceed on the House-passed health care bill.
“SBA List’s hundreds of canvassers knocked on over 1.6 million doors over the last two election cycles to deliver a pro-life Senate majority and a pro-life President,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “They have done their job. It’s time for the Senate to do theirs.
“Obamacare has been a disaster for unborn children through its unprecedented expansion of taxpayer-funded abortion. The 2015 reconciliation bill that was sent to President Obama’s desk or the Better Care Reconciliation Act would roll back this damage and help return us to the principle that abortion is not health care.”
Yesterday, SBA List sent a letter to U.S. Senators urging them to support the motion to proceed and outlining SBA List’s support for the 2015 reconciliation bill and alternatively for the Better Care Reconciliation Act. Both bills would redirect taxpayer funding from Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business, to community health centers which along with rural health centers, outnumber Planned Parenthood by a ratio of 20 to 1 and provide far more comprehensive services.
President Trump has made four specific commitments to the pro-life movement, including reallocating Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding to comprehensive, whole-woman health care centers.
Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, knocking on more than 1.1 million doors in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
