Fred Thompson Records Message for Voters in Key States

WASHINGTON, D.C.Today, the national pro-life Susan B. Anthony List announced a final push campaign to make automated phone calls to four million identified social conservative voters in the key states of Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, Florida, and Wisconsin. The call features actor and former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson urging citizens to vote against President Obama because of his extreme abortion record.

“With only four days to go, we are leaving nothing on the table – voters must know this President’s extreme abortion record before casting their vote,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser.  “In 2004, 22 percent of voters cited ‘moral values’ including abortion as their most important issue, and 80 percent of those supported President Bush, clinching victory in an election that came down to 537 votes in the swing state of Florida. The pro-life issue is a winner, and pro-life voters are capable of securing victory in close elections. It would be a mistake to trivialize the importance of this voting bloc.”

A partial script of the automated phone call is as follows:

“Hello, this is Fred Thompson.  I want to take just a few seconds to ask for your vote…not for me, but for thousands and thousands of children who have not yet been born.  The fact is that Barack Obama is the most pro-abortion president we’ve ever had.  If he is re-elected, more and more babies will never be born.  If you value human life, you need to cast your vote against Barack Obama.  Thanks for listening.”

Earlier today, the SBA List also announced a separate campaign to reach one million Hispanic voters in coalition with the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles. Messages recorded by actor and Hispanic superstar Eduardo Versategui will go out to voters in six battleground states where the Latino vote will be decisive: Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida. A related video message from Mr. Versategui can be seen in English and Spanish at http://www.durarealidad.com/.

The Susan B. Anthony List, and its affiliated Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, are dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates that will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List will emphasize the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
