Washington, D.C. Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced a $200,000 radio and digital campaign exposing the pro-abortion extremism of Democratic Govs. Steve Bullock (D-MT) and Roy Cooper (D-NC) given their support for infanticide. Gov. Bullock has indicated he will veto a bill sent to him by the Montana legislature that would protect babies born alive after failed abortions. Gov. Cooper already vetoed similar legislation sent to him by the North Carolina legislature. The state Senate voted last week to override Cooper’s veto, and a vote in House is expected in the coming days.

“The overwhelming majority of Americans are alarmed by the extremism on display from Democratic Party leaders nationwide, from leading 2020 presidential candidates, to Nancy Pelosi, and now to red state Democratic governors such as Steve Bullock and Roy Cooper,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Seventy-seven percent of Americans – including 70 percent of Democrats – support legislation that would protect babies born alive after failed abortions. Our six-figure campaign is designed to expose the abortion extremism of Governor Steve Bullock and Governor Roy Cooper to their constituents. We especially urge Gov. Bullock to change course and sign the legislation on his desk that would protect children born alive after failed abortions.”

Nearly 200 members of Congress have signed a discharge petition filed by House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) to hold a vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. House Democratic Party leaders have refused more than 35 requests by members to vote on the bill. If a majority of representatives sign the petition, it will force a vote by the full House.

Nationwide polling released by SBA List finds that 77 percent of voters support legislation to ensure that a baby who survives a failed abortion be given the same medical treatment as any other baby born prematurely at the same age (55 percent strongly support.)

President Donald Trump has consistently called out the Democratic Party for their support of late-term abortion and even infanticide, following efforts in New York and Virginia to legalize abortion on demand through birth.

SBA List is a network of more than 700,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
