Dannenfelser: Kennedy Retirement Marks a Pivotal Moment for the Pro-life Movement
Washington, DC – Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List responded to the announcement that U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy will retire.
“Justice Kennedy’s retirement from the Supreme Court marks a pivotal moment for the fight to ensure every unborn child is welcomed and protected under the law,” said Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) president Marjorie Dannenfelser. “The most important commitment that President Trump has made to the pro-life movement has been his promise to nominate only pro-life judges to the Supreme Court, a commitment he honored by swiftly nominating Judge Neil Gorsuch. SBA List was proud to take the lead in rallying pro-life grassroots support for Gorsuch, and we were thrilled to see those efforts come to fruition as Justice Gorsuch took his place on the Supreme Court.
“President Trump now has another crucial opportunity to restore respect for life and the Constitution. We trust him to follow through on his promise.

The successful confirmation of pro-life Supreme Court nominees has been among SBA List’s top priorities under the Trump administration. Immediately after the announcement of Gorsuch’s nomination, national and state pro-life groups, spearheaded by SBA List, launched the Pro-life Court Coalition to rally grassroots support for Gorsuch both online and on the ground to ensure his swift confirmation. The coalition focused its efforts on Senate Democrats up for re-election in 2018 states by holding rallies and press conferences in Ohio, Missouri, Indiana, North Dakota, Montana, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
