Nevada Native to Lead Pro-Life Group’s Media Outreach
Washington, D.C. — In a statement released from its national headquarters today, the Susan B. Anthony List announced the appointment of Ciara Matthews as Communications Director.
“I am thrilled Ciara is joining our team,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of SBA List. “Ciara brings to the Susan B. Anthony List’s communications team both political expertise from her time on the campaign trail with Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle, and first-hand knowledge of the pro-life issue through her time at Nevada Right to Life. Her experience will be a valuable asset in SBA List’s communications efforts.”
According to Dannenfelser, Matthews’ focus will be on overseeing political and legislative communications, including traditional, online and social media.
“It is a great honor to join the fastest growing political pro-life organization in the country,” Matthews said. “I look forward to expanding the Susan B. Anthony List’s media outreach.”
Matthews served as Deputy Communications Director for the Sharron Angle for Senate campaign in 2010. Prior to that, she was the Communications Director for the Nevada Republican Party and worked in communications and development at Nevada Right to Life.
“This is an exciting time to be working with a national organization dedicated to saving lives,” Matthews continued. “Our agenda is to elect a pro-life President and Senate in 2012 as well as work with the states and Congress to defund Planned Parenthood. I can’t think of more worthy goals.”

The Susan B. Anthony List spent $11 million during the 2010 midterm election cycle. Overall, the SBA List was involved in 90 races including 62 wins and 28 losses. Successes included: defeating 15 of 20 so-called “pro-life” Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care reform bill; increasing the number of pro-life women in the House by 70 percent; filling the void of pro-life women in the U.S. Senate and increasing the number of pro-life women governors from one to four.
