Washington, D.C. – Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced its endorsement of Representative Rod Blum for re-election in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District.
“Congressman Rod Blum has championed the right to life throughout his time in office, and Susan B. Anthony List is pleased to endorse him,” said former Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List’s Vice President of Government Affairs. “Rep. Blum is an outspoken advocate of legislation to stop late-term abortions after five months of pregnancy and to protect babies who survive failed abortions. He has led the charge to investigate Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry for their role in the harvest and sale of baby body parts and redirect tax dollars away from abortion businesses to comprehensive health care alternatives. His opponent, Abby Finkenauer, is an abortion extremist who announced her endorsement from NARAL today, in addition to her backing from Planned Parenthood and EMILY’s List. We encourage pro-life Iowans to re-elect Rep. Blum, a trusted voice for the voiceless in Washington.”
Rod Blum, entrepreneur and founder of his own software business, has represented the 1st District in Congress since 2015. He is a co-sponsor of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act, and holds a 100% rating from the National Right to Life Committee. He and his wife Karen have five children and live in Dubuque, Iowa.
Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, visiting more than 1.1 million homes in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. SBA List is a network of more than 630,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
