Washington, D.C. – Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced its endorsement of U.S. Representative Barbara Comstock for re-election in Virginia’s 10th congressional district.
“We are proud to endorse Representative Barbara Comstock, a steadfast pro-life ally in Congress,” said former congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List’s Vice President of Government Affairs. “Barbara has worked to create a culture of life by supporting compassionate, popular legislation to stop late-term abortions after five months of pregnancy. She has consistently voted to stop taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood and other abortion businesses. Because of her principled record on life, she is a top target of the extreme abortion lobby. That’s why we strongly endorse Barbara Comstock, as we have in every election. We thank her for standing up for life and ask all pro-life Virginians to support Barbara in her primary on June 12.”
Rep. Comstock welcomed the endorsement, saying:
“I am honored to receive Susan B. Anthony List’s endorsement, as I have in my 2009, 2011, and 2013 House of Delegate races, and 2014 and 2016 congressional elections. As a person of faith, mother of three, and grandmother of five, I embrace working to create a culture of life. Taxpayers should not be forced to fund abortion. Instead, I support funding for alternatives such as the growing number of community and rural health centers, that provide comprehensive health care for mothers as well as their children. I look forward to continuing to fight on behalf of unborn children and their mothers in Congress.”
Barbara Comstock was first elected to Congress in 2014 after serving in the Virginia House of Delegates. Previously she was a senior aide to Congressman Frank Wolf (R-VA) and went on to be the Chief Counsel on the largest House committee tasked with investigations into waste, fraud, and abuse. She has a lifetime of voting pro-life, including supporting the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, as well as legislation to prevent taxpayer funding of abortion.
