Susan B. Anthony List Endorses Greg Gianforte and Lesley Robinson for Governor and Lieutenant Governor in Montana
Pro-life Candidates Challenge Governor Bullock Who Has Vetoed Even the Most Modest Pro-life Reforms
Washington, D.C. – Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced its endorsement of Greg Gianforte and Lesley Robinson, running on a joint ticket for Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Montana. Current Montana Governor Steve Bullock has vetoed several pro-life laws, including a measure requiring anesthesia be administered to babies during abortion beyond 20 weeks, more than halfway through pregnancy, a point by which research shows babies are capable of feeling pain.
SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser announced the endorsement saying:
“Greg Gianforte is a man who created hundreds of high wage jobs. He’s also a man of faith, who has come under attack for his Christian beliefs by the incumbent governor. His running mate, Lesley Robinson, is a 4th generation rancher, a pro-life mother, and popular county commissioner. We’re honored to throw our support behind a strong pro-life team like Greg and Lesley.”
Gianforte and Robinson welcomed the endorsement and responded with a joint statement:
“We’re running because Montana is 49th in the nation in wages, and too many of our young people are forced to leave the state to find job opportunities. Unfortunately, Montana’s young people have become our most precious export. We are proud to receive the endorsement of an important and dedicated organization like the Susan B. Anthony list. Montana is a state that cherishes life.”
Greg Gianforte is a husband and a father who raised all four of his kids in Montana. He and his wife started a successful high tech company, RightNow Technologies, out of their home in Bozeman, Montana. Gianforte is a pro-life advocate and longtime supporter of pregnancy resource centers to help women in need. His running mate, Lesley Robinson, is the Philips County Commissioner. She is a wife, mother, and 4th generation cattle rancher on Montana’s Hi-Line.
The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
