Washington, DC ─ Tonight, Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund-endorsed Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch was re-elected in the Wisconsin recall election.

“Tonight the people of Wisconsin affirmed that they want leaders who will proudly defend the right to Life and the freedom of conscience,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Lt. Governor Kleefisch understands that protecting the unborn and strengthening women in leadership are not only compatible choices, but complementary and essential roles. We are thrilled with tonight’s results.”

“The Walker-Kleefisch Administration has overseen the successful defunding of Planned Parenthood and the passage of numerous pro-life laws in Wisconsin,” continued Dannenfelser. “We look forward to seeing the lieutenant governor get back to business and continue the pro-life work that the women and families of Wisconsin elected her to do.”

A pro-life advocate, Kleefisch was endorsed by Pro-Life Wisconsin, Wisconsin Right to Life, and Wisconsin Family PAC when she first ran for Lieutenant Governor in 2010. To date, the Walker-Kleefisch administration has ended the use of taxpayer dollars to perform and teach abortions at Wisconsin state universities, the prohibition of Wisconsin’s health insurance exchange from covering elective abortion, and a ban on “telemed” abortions.

Mahlon Mitchell was endorsed by Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin in the recall election. During the campaign, Mitchell lamented the defunding of Planned Parenthood, which is the nation’s largest abortion provider.

During the 2010 election cycle, SBA List spent $11 million and was involved in 90 races, 62 of which resulted in victories. Successes included: defeating 15 of 20 so-called “pro-life” Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care reform bill, increasing the number of pro-life women in the House by 70 percent, filling the void of pro-life women in the U.S. Senate, and increasing the number of pro-life women governors from one to four.

The Susan B. Anthony List, and its connected Political Action Committee, the SBA List Candidate Fund, are dedicated to electing candidates and pursuing policies that will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List will emphasize the election, education, promotion, and mobilization of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of over 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
