Pro-life Canvassers Visited One Million+ Florida Voters to Expose Nelson’s Extremism on Abortion

Washington, D.C.  – Tonight the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) celebrated as Rick Scott defeated incumbent Senator Bill Nelson in the race for U.S. Senate in Florida. The group’s field team of 159 canvassers visited more than one million Florida voters to expose Senator Nelson’s extreme record on abortion. Additionally, SBA List held 14 in-state media events.

“Tonight pro-life voters delivered victory to Rick Scott. Senator Nelson presented himself as a moderate, but his pro-abortion record was too extreme for Florida,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “SBA List’s field team was on the ground early in Florida. Since July of 2017 our canvassers have visited more than one million voters who don’t always get to the polls, educating them about Senator Nelson’s terrible record and the importance of this election for unborn children and their mothers. Nelson’s pro-life constituents were dismayed by his vote to block Justice Brett Kavanaugh and stunned to learn that he had voted to keep late-term abortions legal up to the moment of birth. SBA List congratulates Rick Scott and all Floridians, who are sending a senator to Washington who truly reflects their pro-life values.”

SBA List’s field team of more than 1,100 canvassers visited 2.7 million voters this election cycle across the battleground states of Florida, Indiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Montana, West Virginia, Ohio, Arizona, and Tennessee. A complete list of SBA List’s efforts to mobilize the pro-life vote in the 2018 election cycle can be viewed here.

SBA List held three press tours in Florida to urge Sen. Nelson to vote to confirm each of President Trump’s Supreme Court nominees, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, and to announce the field program.

SBA List is dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders. SBA List is a network of more than 700,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
