Washington, D.C. – Tonight the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) celebrated as its endorsed candidate Marsha Blackburn won her primary for U.S. Senate in Tennessee.
“We congratulate our longtime ally Congressman Marsha Blackburn on her primary win,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Marsha’s courageous pro-life, pro-woman leadership is an inspiration. From fighting to hold Planned Parenthood and other abortion businesses accountable for their role in the gruesome baby body parts trade, to protecting babies born alive in failed abortions and left to die, to keeping taxpayers out of the abortion business, she has led the charge in so many important pro-life battles. SBA List proudly stands with Congressman Blackburn and we look forward to seeing her elected to the Senate.”
Rep. Marsha Blackburn was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2002. She served as chair of the Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives, tasked with investigating the role of Planned Parenthood and other abortion businesses in the harvest and sale of aborted babies’ organs for profit. She has sponsored the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act as well as legislation to prevent taxpayer funding of abortion. In 2014, Blackburn was honored with SBA List’s Distinguished Leader Award.
Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, visiting more than 1.1 million homes in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. SBA List is a network of more than 630,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
