Strong Pro-lifer Running to Replace the Last Pro-Abortion Republican in the House
Washington, D.C. – Tonight the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) celebrated as its endorsed candidate Jay Webber won the Republican primary in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, a seat vacated by retiring pro-abortion Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R).
“We congratulate Jay Webber on his primary win. We are especially encouraged to see him defeat two supporters of taxpayer funding for America’s largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood, despite being outspent two to one,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Webber is deeply committed to the pro-life cause. He will be a welcome change for a district that has long been represented by Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, the last pro-abortion Republican in the U.S. House since the retirement of Pennsylvania’s Charlie Dent. If Webber wins, then every Republican in the House will identify as pro-life. This is a historic opportunity to replace someone who routinely sided with the abortion lobby against his own constituents and to unify the Republican Party on the side of life. That’s why it is so crucial for pro-life voters to support Jay Webber, whose leadership is desperately needed in Washington.”
Webber is an assemblyman for New Jersey’s 26th Legislative District. He previously served as chairman of the New Jersey Republican Party. He is a recipient of the “Defender of the Family” legislative award from the New Jersey Family Policy Council and has a 100% pro-life voting record from New Jersey Right to Life. Jay and his wife Johanna have seven children and live in Morris Plains, New Jersey.
Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, visiting more than 1.1 million homes in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. SBA List is a network of more than 630,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
