Washington, D.C. – Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) congratulated Kim Reynolds on being named Governor of Iowa, succeeding Governor Terry Branstad, who has been appointed by President Trump to serve as Ambassador to China.
“Kim Reynolds is an outspoken champion of unborn children and their mothers,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “She has fought to prevent taxpayer dollars from being used to fund the abortion industry, promoted the multitude of women’s health services in counties across Iowa, and helped shepherd crucial pro-life bills like the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act through the Iowa legislature. We are proud to see her advance to the Governorship and confident she will hit the ground running as she takes the reins of the most pro-life administration in state history.”
“Kim Reynolds is a stalwart defender of the innocent unborn and a longtime ally of SBA List,” said former Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List Vice President of Government Affairs. “As a founding member of SBA List’s National Pro-life Women’s Caucus, she is in the vanguard of pro-life, pro-woman leadership and will make a fine Governor. We look forward to working together to build on the Branstad administration’s legacy and make even more pro-life gains in Iowa.”
Reynolds is the first female governor of Iowa. She has served as Lieutenant Governor since 2011. Prior to being elected Lieutenant Governor, she was a state senator. SBA List first endorsed Reynolds in 2010, and in 2013, she became a member of the Leadership Team of SBA List’s newly-formed National Pro-life Women’s Caucus.
Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, knocking on more than 1.1 million doors in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
