SBA List Candidate Fund Endorses Rita Meyer for Governor of Wyoming

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of Rita Meyer, candidate for governor of Wyoming.

“Wyoming families deserve the pro-life feminine leadership Rita Meyer so capably provides,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA List Candidate Fund.  “When states begin to gain back their Constitutional right to legislate to protect women and children from abortion – along the lines the early feminists envisioned – Meyer will be there to lead the charge.

“A new women’s movement which affirms its original pro-life roots is making its way to top posts in every level of government, and Meyer is one of its brightest new stars.“

Rita Meyer was elected to serve as Wyoming State Auditor in November of 2006 and is one of five elected officials, including the Governor, who serve on the State Loan and Investment Board and Board of Land Commissioners. She is a combat veteran of the armed forces and retired from the Wyoming Air National Guard in 2007 after 23 years of service. She has served in southwest Asia, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Meyer is a strong proponent of adoption as a way to protect Life and is opposed to federal funding of abortion. She shares the strong pro-life position of the Wyoming congressional delegation—United States Senators Mike Enzi and John Barrasso and Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis.

Rita Meyer will face Matt Mead, Ron Micheli, John Self, Kevin Seney and Colin Simpson in the August 17th Republican primary.

The Susan B. Anthony List plans to spend $6 million on voter education in the midterm elections, including $3 million on key Senate races. The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of over 280,000 Americans, residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics.  Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
