Washington, D.C. – Today Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund announced its endorsement of Representative Alex Mooney for re-election in West Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District.
“Congressman Alex Mooney is a committed pro-life leader who believes strongly that every human being is precious,” said former congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List’s Vice President of Government Affairs. “A father of three, Alex cares deeply about protecting unborn children and their mothers. He is an outspoken supporter of legislation to stop late-term abortions after five months of pregnancy and has consistently fought to stop taxpayer funding of abortion. His opponent, Talley Sergent, is an extremist backed by the radical pro-abortion group EMILY’s List and a former Hillary Clinton campaign staffer who will undermine President Trump’s pro-life agenda. Only one of these candidates will stand up for West Virginians’ values in Washington – Alex Mooney. Susan B. Representative Mooney has served the 2nd Congressional District since 2014. He is a sponsor of the Life at Conception Act, as well as a co-sponsor of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, the Conscience Protection Act, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act, the Dismemberment Abortion Ban Act, the Heartbeat Protection Act, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, and numerous other pro-life bills.
While in college, Rep. Mooney was president of the Dartmouth Coalition for Life. He is the son of a Cuban refugee and a Vietnam veteran. He lives in Jefferson County with his wife and three children.
