Washington, DC ─ Today, the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of Pete Hoekstra for U.S. Senate in Michigan.  He will face EMILY’s List darling Debbie Stabenow in November.

“Pete Hoekstra’s pro-life voting record shows his proven leadership to protect women and the unborn from the predatory abortion industry,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “The contrast between Pete Hoekstra and EMILY’s List candidate Debbie Stabenow could not be clearer to voters. Senator Stabenow has repeatedly rubber stamped the extreme pro-abortion policies of President Obama, earning her a 100 percent rating from the abortion enthusiasts at NARAL.  Women and families in Michigan deserve better.”

Pete Hoekstra served in the U.S. House from 1993 to 2011 earning a 100 percent pro-life rating from the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC). His record includes voting to prohibit partial-birth abortion and cloning, to restrict the transportation of minors across state lines to get abortions, to make it a crime to harm an unborn child during another crime and to fund health care providers who do not provide abortions.

Sen. Debbie Stabenow has been endorsed by EMILY’s List and has a 100 percent rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America. While in office, Senator Stabenow voted at least six times against a ban on partial birth abortion as well as against legislation making it illegal to transport a minor across state lines for abortion and against parental notification legislation. Senator Stabenow has also voted repeatedly to use taxpayer dollars to fund abortion and in support of sending funding to organizations that support abortion overseas.

During the 2010 election cycle, SBA List spent $11 million and was involved in 90 races, 62 of which resulted in victories. Successes included: defeating 15 of 20 so-called “pro-life” Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care reform bill, increasing the number of pro-life women in the House by 70 percent, filling the void of pro-life women in the U.S. Senate, and increasing the number of pro-life women governors from one to four.

The Susan B. Anthony List, and its connected Political Action Committee, the SBA List Candidate Fund, are dedicated to electing candidates and pursuing policies that will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List will emphasize the election, education, promotion, and mobilization of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
