Washington, DC ─ Today, the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of Ovide Lamontagne for Governor in New Hampshire.  He will face Maggie Hassan in November.

“The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund is proud to endorse Ovide Lamontagne for Governor of New Hampshire,” said Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “A longtime pro-life advocate and adoptive father, Ovide understands the value of every human life and is committed to protecting the unborn and their mothers. His opponent on the other hand has repeatedly failed to protect the New Hampshire children and families from abortion while in the New Hampshire State Senate and has been endorsed by the leading pro-abortion groups including EMILY’s List and the Women’s Campaign Fund. The choice between these Ovide Lamontagne and Maggie Hassan couldn’t be clearer. New Hampshire citizens deserve a governor who will fight for them, not cater to the abortion lobby, and we look forward to Ovide Lamontagne’s victory in November.”

Ovide Lamontagne has served as Chairman of the New Hampshire State Board of Education, as a private practice lawyer, and on the boards of various charitable and civic organizations throughout New Hampshire. Lamontagne has signed Cornerstone New Hampshire’s pledge to protect life from conception to natural death and has received the endorsement of Sen. John McCain, Sen. Gordon Humphrey, the Concord Monitor, the Eagle Tribune and the Nashua Telegraph.

An abortion advocate, former New Hampshire State Senate Majority Leader Maggie Hassan has been endorsed by EMILY’s List and the Women’s Campaign Fund. Lamontagne leads Hassan 40 percent to 33 percent according to the latest WMUR poll.

During the 2010 election cycle, SBA List spent $11 million and was involved in 90 races, 62 of which resulted in victories. Successes included: defeating 15 of 20 so-called “pro-life” Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care reform bill, increasing the number of pro-life women in the House by 70 percent, filling the void of pro-life women in the U.S. Senate, and increasing the number of pro-life women governors from one to four.

The Susan B. Anthony List, and its affiliated Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, are dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates that will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List will emphasize the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
