SBA List Candidate Fund Endorses Nikki Haley in SC-Gov

WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of Nikki Haley, candidate for Governor of South Carolina. SBA List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser  said of the endorsement:

“South Carolina families deserve the pro-life feminine leadership Nikki Haley so capably provides.  When states gain back their Constitutional right to legislate to protect women and children from abortion – along the lines of what the early feminists envisioned – Nikki Haley will be there to lead the charge.”

Dannenfelser called Haley, who grew her family’s clothing business from a small shop to a multi-million dollar company, part of a wave of savvy pro-life women candidates poised to sweep November elections. “A new women’s movement which affirms its original pro-life roots is making its way to top posts in every level of government, and Haley is one of its brightest new stars,” Dannenfelser said.

Haley was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 2004, then re-elected for two more consecutive terms. Haley finished first in the four-way June 8 GOP primary with more than 49 percent of the vote and won the resulting the runoff election against Congressman Gresham Barett (SC-03) with 65 percent of the vote.

Haley will face Democratic State Senator Vincent Sheheen in the November general election.  If elected, Haley will become South Carolina’s first female governor and the first Asian Indian-American to hold office in South Carolina.

The Susan B. Anthony List plans to spend $6 million on voter education in the midterm elections, including $3 million on key Senate races. The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of over 280,000 Americans, residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics.  Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
