Washington, DC ─ Today, the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of John Koster for Washington’s 1st Congressional District.  He will face EMILY’s List candidate Suzan DelBene in November.

“The Susan B. Anthony List is proud to endorse John Koster for Congress,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “As a Washington state legislator, John championed women and families by sponsoring pro-life initiatives including a measure to protect children from abortion with stronger parental notification laws. On the other hand, Suzan DelBene has received the support of every major pro-abortion group in the country, including Planned Parenthood, the nation’s biggest abortion chain. The choice between John Koster and Suzan DelBene couldn’t be clearer. Washington women and unborn children deserve a proven leader who will fight for them, not a politician beholden to the abortion lobby.”

As a three term member of the Washington State House of Representatives (1995-2000) John Koster co-sponsored a dozen different pro-life initiatives including a limitation on partial-birth abortions (HB 2395) and stronger parental notification laws (HB 1036). Koster has received the endorsement of SBA List-endorsed incumbent Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Human Life of Washington, Citizens United Political Victory Fund, Eagle Forum and HuckPAC.

Suzan DelBene has been endorsed by EMILY’s List, NARAL and Planned Parenthood for her 2012 campaign. A September 15 SurveyUSA poll found Koster leading DelBene 46 percent to 42 percent.

During the 2010 election cycle, SBA List spent $11 million and was involved in 90 races, 62 of which resulted in victories. Successes included: defeating 15 of 20 so-called “pro-life” Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care reform bill, increasing the number of pro-life women in the House by 70 percent, filling the void of pro-life women in the U.S. Senate, and increasing the number of pro-life women governors from one to four.

The Susan B. Anthony List, and its affiliated Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, are dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates that will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List will emphasize the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
