WASHINGTON, D.C.Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of Darlene Senger for U.S. Congress in Illinois’ 11th Congressional District.

“As a state representative, Darlene Senger has stood up for Illinois women as she fought for basic health and safety standards for abortion businesses,” said SBA List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “We are pleased to endorse Darlene Senger’s candidacy as she seeks to take her pro-life, pro-woman leadership to the halls of Congress. Darlene Sanger will take on incumbent Rep. Bill Foster, who has voted in lockstep with the abortion lobby 100 percent of the time, and even opposed a compassionate bill that would limit abortions after 20 weeks based on the unborn child’s ability to feel pain. Rep. Bill Foster is too extreme on abortion, and must be defeated.”

Darlene Senger was first elected as an Illinois State Representative in 2008. As a State Representative, Darlene sponsored a bill to amend the state’s Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center Act to ensure that surgical abortion clinics are held to the same standard as any other outpatient surgical center. She has been endorsed by the Illinois Federation for Right to Life for the congressional race. Prior to holding elected office, Senger worked at First National Bank of Chicago and SEI Consulting. Senger won the Republican primary on March 18th with 37 percent of the vote.

Darlene Senger’s opponent, Rep. Bill Foster (D), is endorsed by NARAL and Illinois Planned Parenthood Council. Foster holds a 0 percent National Right to Life voting record – including a vote against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act which would protect unborn babies at 20 weeks, or more than halfway through the pregnancy.

The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, are dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women at all levels of government.  The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
