Washington, D.C. – Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund announced its endorsement of Attorney General Bill Schuette and Lisa Posthumus Lyons in Michigan’s gubernatorial election.
“Bill Schuette’s bold pro-life leadership is exactly what Michigan needs in a governor,” said former congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List’s Vice President of Government Affairs. “From safeguarding conscience rights, to protecting babies born alive during failed abortions, to stopping the flow of tax dollars to the abortion industry, Bill is a tireless advocate for unborn children and their mothers. As attorney general he has led the charge to hold abortion businesses accountable for breaking the law. His opponent, Gretchen Whitmer, is an extremist backed by radical pro-abortion groups – she even calls abortion ‘family planning.’ Michiganders can count on Bill Schuette and Lisa Posthumus Lyons to stand up for their laws and their values in Lansing.”
Bill Schuette was elected Michigan’s attorney general in 2010. In that role, he has worked to close illegally operating abortion facilities and protect employers from being forced to provide abortion-inducing drugs through their insurance plans. His career in public service includes time in Congress, the state senate, and the Michigan Court of Appeals. Schuette and his wife have two adult children and live in Midland.
Lisa Posthumus Lyons is a former member of the Michigan House of Representatives, where she had a consistent pro-life voting record. She is an active supporter of Alpha Women’s Center of Grand Rapids. She and her husband Brad have four children and live in Alto.
