Initial Effort includes Radio and Digital Advertising as Congress Gets Closer to Redirecting the Abortion Giant’s Federal Funds to Comprehensive Health Care Centers
Washington, D.C. – Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced initial elements of its planned $500,000 campaign to expose Planned Parenthood as America’s largest abortion provider and urge Congress to redirect the group’s tax dollars to comprehensive, whole-woman health care centers. This week SBA List is running a radio ad and digital advertising campaign targeting Washington, D.C. Upcoming efforts will include state-based mobilization in key states.
Last night, the U.S. Senate passed a budget resolution bill, the first step in the process to redirect Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding and repeal Obamacare using the budget reconciliation procedure.
Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser offered the following comment:
“We urge the House to swiftly pass the budget resolution sent to them last night by the Senate so that Congress can pass a reconciliation bill that redirects taxpayer funding from Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, to community health centers that provide comprehensive health care for women and families. These centers outnumber Planned Parenthood facilities by a 20:1 ratio. Redirecting the abortion giant’s taxpayer funding will fulfill a major pro-life commitment made by President-elect Trump to end Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding as long as they continue to perform abortions.”
A poll released earlier this month by SBA List found that a majority or plurality of voters in 2018 Senate battleground states oppose giving tax dollars to Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion provider, instead of comprehensive healthcare providers. A majority in North Dakota, Montana, Ohio, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Florida also said they would be less likely to vote for Senators who support sending tax dollars to the abortion giant rather than community health centers.
Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, performs more than 323,000 abortions per year and has done nearly one million abortions in the last three years.
Susan B. Anthony List and its connected super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, knocking on more than 1.1 million doors in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
