Pro-life Doctor Will Champion Health Care Reform that Respects Life & Conscience

Washington, DC – Overnight the U.S. Senate voted to confirm Representative Tom Price (R-GA) as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) president Marjorie Dannenfelser commented:

“We congratulate Tom Price on his confirmation as Secretary of Health and Human Services. As the first physician to head this department in more than two decades, he will bring invaluable perspective to our nation’s health care policy. He is a staunch pro-life ally whose leadership helped lay the groundwork for President-elect Trump and a pro-life Congress to redirect taxpayer funds away from abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood to community health centers that provide comprehensive health care for women and families. He will be well-positioned as HHS Secretary to champion health policy that respects the conscience of pro-life Americans and protects the lives of the unborn while also promoting options for low-income individuals and families.”

Rep. Price has 20 years of experience as an orthopedic surgeon. While serving in the House of Representatives, Price held a 100 percent pro-life voting record. He was a co-sponsor of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, SBA List’s top legislative priority.

Susan B. Anthony List and its connected super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, knocking on more than 1.1 million doors in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
