SBA List/ADF Model Legislation Introduced in Pennsylvania

Harrisburg, PA ─ On Wednesday, May 23, pro-life leaders will join State Representative Daryl Metcalf for a press conference supporting the Whole Woman’s Health Funding Priority Act. Based on model legislation developed by the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) and Alliance Defense Fund, the Whole Woman’s Health Funding Priority Act would prioritize state family planning funding to entities that provide comprehensive “whole woman” care, while restricting family planning funds from going to entities that perform abortions such as Planned Parenthood.

Chuck Donovan, president of the SBA List’s Charlotte Lozier Institute

Chuck Donovan, president of the Charlotte Lozier Institute, the education and research arm of the SBA List, has testified on similar legislation in numerous states, most recently in Arizona and Ohio. On May 4, the Whole Woman’s Health Funding Priority Act of Arizona was signed into law by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer.

The SBA List has led the charge to defund Planned Parenthood in the states following last year’s Congressional battle, offering state groups and legislators model legislation, expert testimony, and grassroots muscle. In 2011, eight states successfully defunded Planned Parenthood of more than $61.7 million.

The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of more than 365,000 Americans dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics.  Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
