SBA List Endorses Four Candidates; Will Spend $25k targeting Houck

WASHINGTON, DCThe Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, today announced the endorsement and financial support of four candidates running for Virginia State Senate:  Caren Merrick (VA-31), Patricia Phillips (VA-33), Bryce Reeves (VA-17) and incumbent State Senator Jill Vogel (VA-27). The organization will also spend $25,000 targeting incumbent State Senator Edd Houck (VA-17), a longtime ally of the pro-abortion lobby and chairman of the powerful Education and Health Committee.

“Currently, Virginia’s State Senate is a graveyard for pro-life legislation, and we aim to help make that a thing of the past,” explained Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the SBA List Candidate Fund. “We look forward to helping elect a pro-life majority in the Senate that will pass laws that save lives and defund Planned Parenthood in the next legislative session.”

The group will be sending PAC checks to all four of the endorsed candidates in addition to mobilizing pro-life voters in each district. Additionally, the organization will spend $25,000 on a campaign to expose incumbent State Senator Edd Houck’s extreme record on abortion. Houck is being challenged by Bryce Reeves in VA-17.

“Senator Houck has been a consistent ally to the pro-abortion movement, blocking pro-life legislation from even reaching the floor for debate,” said Dannenfelser. “Defeating Senator Houck is a top priority for the SBA List Candidate Fund and it is our hope that our targeted media program, including newspaper and radio ad campaigns, will encourage voters to replace him with Bryce Reeves, a committed pro-life candidate.”

The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of more than 330,000 Americans dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics.  Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
