Walorski & Pro-life Members of Congress Speak Out in Support of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act

Washington, D.C. –  Today U.S. Representative Jackie Walorski (R-IN) will lead pro-life members of Congress in special order speeches on the House floor in support of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, legislation introduced by Rep. Ann Wagner (R-MO) to protect babies born alive in failed abortions.

Rep. Walorski, a member of SBA List’s National Pro-Life Women’s Caucus, is an original co-sponsor of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and has previously spoken in support of the bill on the House floor.

The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) praised Walorski’s leadership in a statement:

“We thank Congresswoman Walorski, a longtime ally of SBA List, and her pro-life House colleagues for their unwavering commitment to protecting babies who survive an attempted abortion,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “These vulnerable children deserve no less than the same lifesaving care afforded to any other newborn baby, but many states leave them at the mercy of the abortionist. Democrats’ obstinate refusal to allow a vote on this compassionate bill is appalling and exposes them as extremists who support abortion on demand through the moment of birth and even beyond – a position that is irreconcilable with the views of the overwhelming majority of Americans. We urge Congress to take a strong stand against infanticide by passing this bill and sending it swiftly to President Trump for his signature.”

President Donald Trump in his State of the Union address called out the Democratic Party for their support of late-term abortion and even infanticide, following efforts in New York and Virginia to legalize abortion on demand through birth. Last week Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) asked for unanimous consent for the House to consider the bill, and Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) announced he would file a discharge petition after 30 legislative days if no action is taken in order to force a vote on the bill by the full House.

President Trump also called on Congress to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, legislation that would stop late-term abortions after five months of pregnancy when the unborn child can feel excruciating pain.

SBA List is a network of more than 700,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
