Washington, D.C.  – This afternoon Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser will host a press call to discuss this morning’s meeting between President Trump and pro-life advocates and to discuss abortion as an issue in the 2020 presidential election. Dannenfelser was at the White House this morning to meet with the President and pro-life advocates from across the nation.

WHAT:          Marjorie Dannenfelser to discuss President Trump’s pro-life advocacy and abortion as a 2020 campaign issue

WHEN:          Today, February 14 at 2:00 PM Eastern

WHERE:      ***RSVP to [email protected] for call-in information***

President Donald Trump in his State of the Union address previously called out the Democratic Party for their support for late-term abortion and even infanticide, following efforts in New York and Virginia to legalize abortion on demand through birth, and even beyond. The President also reportedly criticized New York Governor Andrew Cuomo for signing the bill in an in-person meeting this week.

In Congress, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) last week asked for unanimous consent for the House to consider the bill, and Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) announced he would file a discharge petition after 30 legislative days if no action is taken in order to force a vote on the bill by the full House. 22 Members of Congress took to the House floor last night, led by Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN), to give speeches urging pro-life action.

Americans overwhelmingly reject the Democratic Party’s position on abortion as displayed in recent weeks in New York and Virginia. A poll released yesterday by SBA List found that:

  • 77 percent of voters support legislation to ensure that a baby who survives a failed abortion be given the same medical treatment as any other baby born prematurely at the same age (55 percent strongly support).
  • 62 percent of voters oppose legislation to allow late-term abortions, even up to the point when a woman is in labor (50 percent strongly oppose).

SBA List is a network of more than 700,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
