SBA List Recaps Details of Unprecedented GOTV Effort that Reached 1.6 Million Voters through Door-to-Door, Mail, and Digital Ad Campaign

Washington, D.C. –  Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out released the details of its 2016 GOTV effort to reach a total of 1.6 million voters, including 1.1 million voters contacted directly at their homes in the battleground states of Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, and Missouri. SBA List president Marjorie Dannenfelser offered the following comment:

“SBA List has spent the last year talking to voters in battleground states – directly at their doors and through hard-hitting mail and digital ads – and laying the groundwork for pro-life victories tonight. Not only did we work to turn out inconsistent pro-life voters, we identified and contacted persuadable Democrats, including Hispanics, who were horrified to learn about Hillary Clinton’s support for forcing taxpayers to fund late-term abortion up until the moment of birth. Clinton’s position – which is shared by her allied Senate candidates – is profoundly unpopular.

“The abortion issue has consistently been on voters’ minds this election. According to Google trends, abortion was the second most searched for term during the first general election debate. In the days leading up to the election, abortion has been the top issue voters are searching for related to both candidates. Our team communicated each candidates position on the life issue directly to low-propensity pro-life voters who otherwise may not vote, and also to persuadable Democrats and Hispanics who otherwise may vote for pro-abortion candidates.”

This week Google data revealed that abortion is the top search topic related to Trump and Clinton. Abortion was also the second most searched issue during the first presidential debate for both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. The Washington Post noted at the time: “Reproductive rights weren’t discussed at the presidential debate Monday — but the topic was on the minds of many voters: According to Google Trends, “abortion” was the second most-searched issues for both candidates.”

Susan B. Anthony List and its connected super PAC, Women Speak Out so far have spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, knocking on more than one million doors in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
