Flipping the Senate Would Advance the SBA List’s Top Legislative Priority, Protecting Babies after Five Months

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Pro-life electoral politics hinges on the ability to reach voters personally. That’s why this election cycle pro-life leaders have emphasized a robust ground game as critical to defeating Harry Reid and electing strong pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. Women Speak Out PAC (WSO), a partner of the national pro-life groupSusan B. Anthony List (SBA List), and Campaign for American Values PAC have been on the ground since April and have knocked on more than 456,000 doors and made more than 421,000 calls to voters.

Fourteen field offices were opened in Arkansas, Louisiana, and North Carolina to reach low propensity pro-life voters. Last month, the campaign also expanded to Kansas. A complete By the Numbers fact sheet is available here

“In April we launched the largest ever pro-life door-to-door and phone call effort to impact three races critical to building a Senate majority and kicking Harry Reid out of power. Today, our team 759 field representatives has reached more than 875,000 pro-life voters who typically do not vote in midterm elections,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List and Women Speak Out PAC

“We made a strategic decision early on to reach out to voters on a personal level, cutting through the noise of broadcast advertising. This type of grassroots activism is inimitable – and it is a hallmark of the pro-life movement,” Dannenfelser continued. “Our targeted voters were significantly impacted by our message outlining the pro-abortion candidate’s extreme record on abortion. Ending taxpayer funding of abortion and defending the unborn after the point at which they feel pain are common ground issues that defy gender, age, and party gap.”

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has pledged that if his party is in the majority next Congress, he will advance a vote on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This compassionate, modest legislation to stop abortion after five months is the SBA List’s top legislative priority. The measure is supported by the majority of Americans – women in higher numbers than men.

The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $15.25 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
