Washington, D.C. – Today the Georgia legislature sent to Governor Brian Kemp’s desk legislation to protect unborn children from abortion when a heartbeat can be detected. The film and television industry labor union Writers Guild of America, actress Alyssa Milano, and more than 40 celebrities have threatened to boycott the state.
The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) praised the passage of the bill in a statement:
“Georgia lawmakers courageously stood up to Hollywood bullies by sending this compassionate bill to Governor Kemp for his signature,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “The beating heart of a vulnerable unborn child should awaken the conscience of our nation to the violence of abortion. We thank Governor Kemp for pledging his support for this lifesaving bill and encourage him to sign it swiftly into law.”
Dr. Kathi Aultman, a former abortionist and an associate scholar with SBA List’s research arm Charlotte Lozier Institute, traveled to Georgia to give testimony on the bill.
