Defeats Pro-Abortion Kerrey, Becomes 2nd Pro-life Woman in the Senate
Washington, DC ─ Tonight the national pro-life Susan B. Anthony List cheered Deb Fischer’s victory over Bob Kerrey for U.S. Senate in Nebraska. Fischer will be the second pro-life woman in the Senate, joining Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH).
“Adding a second pro-life woman’s voice to the U.S. Senate was one of the SBA List’s top goals for this election cycle and we are very pleased with Deb Fischer’s victory tonight,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “It is no surprise that Nebraskans elected a leader whose voting record reflects their pro-life values. Women and families know they will be well served by Deb Fischer’s pro-life leadership. In the Nebraska state legislature, Deb fought passionately for pro-life, pro-woman policies and we look forward to seeing her activism continue in Washington.”
In October, the SBA List launched at $40,000 radio ad campaign across the state of Nebraska exposing Bob Kerrey’s extreme record on abortion including his five votes against banning the gruesome practice of partial birth abortion. The SBA List Candidate Fund and SBA List members nationwide contributed a total of $74,000 in direct and bundled donations to the Fischer campaign and leading up to Election Day, the SBA List mobilized its Nebraska members and activists to get out the vote for Deb Fischer.
Since 2004, Deb Fischer has served in the Nebraska state legislature as representative for the 43rd district. Fischer was endorsed by Nebraska Right to Life and holds a 100 percent pro-life voting record.
During the 2012 election cycle, the Susan B. Anthony List spent $11.2 million nationwide to accomplish three goals: 1) ensure the presidential challenger made specific pro-life commitments, 2) combat the “war on women” narrative, and 3) expose the extreme abortion agenda of President Obama and the Democratic Party of abortion on-demand paid for by the taxpayers.
