Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) tonight filed a bill cosponsored by Sens. Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul, James Lankford, Roy Blunt, John Cornyn, Deb Fischer, and Tim Scott to completely defund Planned Parenthood of taxpayer dollars.
Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser praised the move and offered the following comment:
“The speed and intensity with which presidential candidates and Senate leaders have responded to the Planned Parenthood scandal is revealing of how this will play out in the coming election cycle. There could not be a greater distinction between the two parties when it comes to speaking out against Planned Parenthood’s vivisection of unborn children and brutal late-term abortions after five months.”
“Predictions that the pro-life issue will play a minor role in the debate, as predicted every election cycle, are already turning out to be vastly incorrect.”
