#ProtestPP rallies tomorrow will ask President Trump to issue Reagan-era Title X Regulations

Washington, D.C. –  Tomorrow, April 28th, rallies will be held at more than 140 Planned Parenthood locations throughout the United States. This nationwide day of prayer and protest is being coordinated by #ProtestPP, a coalition of more than 75 national, state and local pro-life organizations.

The rallies will call on President Trump to stop taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood – the nation’s largest abortion business. The effort to fully defund the organization of all federal tax dollars—about $430 million annually—has stalled in Congress. But an effort is now underway to revise Title X family planning rules to block the abortion business as a recipient, and deprive them of some $60-80 million annually.

“Defunding Planned Parenthood was a core promise made by President Trump to the voters, and now he has a huge opportunity to deliver a victory where Congress has failed,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “The pro-life grassroots from across the country will rally behind our President, urging him to fulfill the promise he made to voters to get taxpayers out of the abortion business by ending federal funding for abortion giant Planned Parenthood.”

“The pro-life grassroots are hungry for a victory in the fight to defund Planned Parenthood, and President Trump can deliver that victory,” said Pro-Life Action League Executive Director Eric Scheidler, one of three national #ProtestPP co-directors. “Our rallies will show President Trump that the pro-life grassroots stand strongly behind him as he takes decisive action to protect unborn children, mothers, and taxpayers.”

The Reagan-era regulations would specifically direct taxpayer funding to Title X family planning locations that do not perform or refer for abortions. The Reagan regulations were upheld by the Supreme Court in 1991 in Rust v. Sullivan. A report issued earlier this year by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) shows that Title X is Planned Parenthood’s second biggest funding stream, generating between $50-$60 million per year.

Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, knocking on more than 1.1 million doors in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 630,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
