SBA List In the Headlines – September 12-18 2010

This week, the Susan B. Anthony List continued its support of New Hampshire U.S. Senate candidate Kelly Ayotte and come-from-behind Delaware U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell in the final days of the state GOP primary campaigns.  Both O’Donnell and Ayotte went on to win their races, resulting in an encouraging wave of coverage about the surge of GOP women candidates and the opportunity to send pro-life women candidates to a Senate currently devoid of pro-life woman leadership.

On Thursday, SBA List joined with the American Principles Project in leading a coalition of conservative groups to deliver 20,000 petitions from Americans to the Republican leadership, asking it to include a family values plank with an emphasis on pro-life legislation in its upcoming legislative agenda.  The effort generated a large amount of press on the role social issues – and specifically abortion – will play in a GOP election strategy now largely focused on jobs and the economy.
