February 25, 2009

The House voted 245-178 to approve a 2009 budget riddled with funds for abortion providers.

Some of the funds being given to abortion groups include:

 – Title X Domestic Family Planning receives an increase of about $7.5 million for a total of $307, 491,000. (2.5% increase over $299 million in FY08)

 – International Family Planning receives an increase of $88 million for a total of $545 million. (19% percent increase over $457 million in FY08)

–  International Family Planning funds include an allocation of $50 million for the UNFPA.  Although previously UNFPA funds have been redirected in recent years, funds have still been allocated for UNFPA.  The $50 million funding level for UNFPA is $10 million higher than FY08.  (25% increase over $40 million in FY08)

The Senate will now consider the 2009 budget.
