Pro-life Canvassers Will Educate Millions of Voters on Biden’s Extreme Record to Re-elect President Trump and Pro-life Senate
Washington, D.C. – Today former Vice President Joe Biden advanced one step closer to securing the Democratic Party presidential nomination as U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders dropped out of the race. The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) responded in a statement:
“Today it is all but official that presumptive nominee Joe Biden will face President Trump in the general election, but it has long been clear that the Democratic Party nominee would be as extreme as they come on abortion, no matter what,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Biden, who now favors forcing taxpayers to pay for abortion on demand through birth – a significant political liability with the majority of Americans, even within his own party – represents the total capitulation of Democratic Party leadership to the radical abortion lobby. President Trump, in stark contrast, has governed as the most pro-life president in history. This is a moment of rare clarity, when life will be the defining issue in the most consequential election of our time for unborn children and their mothers. SBA List’s canvassing team will be working relentlessly through Election Day to educate millions of battleground-state voters, including pro-life Democrats and Independents, to expose Biden’s extreme record, and to re-elect President Trump and our pro-life Senate majority.”
Polling released by SBA List in June 2019 found that a majority (50%) of voters are less likely to support Joe Biden (35% strongly less likely to support) following his announcement that he supports using tax dollars to pay for abortions after decades of opposing taxpayer funding of abortion. This includes 55% of Independent voters who say they are less likely to support him.
Additionally, a Marist poll earlier this year shows 44% of rank-and-file Democrats and 62% of Independents want to vote for a candidate who supports common-ground limits on abortion.
The SBA List canvassing team has visited more than 750,000 homes and made nearly 370,000 live voter phone calls this election cycle across the battleground states of Arizona, Florida, and North Carolina. The team aims to reach four million voters overall before Election Day. The comprehensive effort will include boots on the ground, voter contact mail, phone calls, and digital ads, and is part of the organizations’ overall $52 million budget for the 2020 cycle.
